Pregestational diabetes and fetal heart rate in the first trimester of pregnancy
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Dec 19, 2018
Sirico A, et al. - Researchers investigated the influence of pregestational diabetes on fetal heart rate (FHR) readings at 11–14 weeks of pregnancy. From 2009 to 2016, they recorded age, body mass index (BMI), presence of pregestational diabetes, nuchal translucency (NT), FHR, crown-rump length (CRL), biparietal diameter (BPD) and gestational age for 994 pregnancies. Diabetic pregnancies displayed first-trimester FHR higher than non-diabetic pregnancies. Differences in FHR were noted to be significantly correlated with the presence of pregestational diabetes and the CRL but not with the maternal BMI, maternal age, gestational age, BPD and NT.
