Predisposing factors for erectile dysfunction and response to treatment in younger males: Are they different from those of older men? An observational-comparative study

Andrologia Dec 19, 2019

Kızılay F, et al. - In this observational comparative study, individuals were distributed into two groups ie, < 40 years (group I, n = 58) and ≥ 40 years (group II, n = 73) in order to correlate the predisposing demographic and clinical factors for erectile dysfunction (ED) in growing men and response of the treatment in these men with data from elderly males. In group I, the number of individuals with morning rigidity, normal libido as well as a rise in scores other than International Index of Erectile Function-5-Orgasmic Function and Sexual Desire domain scores following treatment were greater. Also, it was found in a multivariate analysis that testosterone level and Beck's Depression Inventory score were the factors prognosticating the low International Index of Erectile Function-5 domain score in growing men. However, psychogenic factors add significantly to the etiology of ED, hormone profile was more preserved in young men vs older men.
