Predictors of sling revision after mid-urethral sling procedures: A case-control study
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Sep 20, 2018
Clancy AA, et al. - In this case-control study, researchers determined patient characteristics and surgical factors predictive of complications requiring mid-urethral sling (MUS) revision/removal. They matched 107 women undergoing MUS revision/removal between 2005 and 2016 to 214 controls by date of index MUS procedure (2:1 ratio). Findings showed that active smoking, having a history of hysterectomy, and undergoing concomitant surgery for pelvic organ prolapse are risk factors for requiring subsequent MUS revision/removal.
