Motoda S, et al. - Researchers here sought to clarify the association between perioperative variables and postoperative bleeding in pars plana vitrectomy for vitreous hemorrhage in diabetic retinopathy. They identified the long duration of operation could be predictive of bleeding within both 12 and 52 weeks after vitrectomy. Moreover, risk factors for postoperative bleeding up to one year after vitrectomy included fasting blood glucose just before vitrectomy, no treatment with antiplatelet drugs, and treatment with antihypertensive drugs.
