Predictors of decreased libido in women during the late reproductive years
Menopause Oct 29, 2018
Gracia CR, et al. – Researchers conducted this prospective cohort study of women aged 35-47 years to identify predictors of decreased libido among women during the late productive years. Study participants were identified through random digit dialing and followed for 4 years with serial hormone assays and standardized questionnaires. Outcomes suggested that women in late reproductive years display decreased libido in association with a pronounced fluctuation in total testosterone over time. Vaginal dryness, depression, and living with children were identified as the other independent risk factors for decreased libido. Researchers identified sexual dysfunction as a complex disorder related to physiological and psychosocial factors.
