Predictive factor for volume reduction of uterine fibroids after short-term use of ulipristal acetate
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Apr 03, 2018
Yun BS, et al. - In view of the observed variation in the reported volume reduction of uterine fibroids across different reports demonstrating the effective control of bleeding and reduction in the fibroid volume following both short- and long-term therapy of ulipristal acetate (UPA), researchers searched for the factors that can affect the volume reduction of uterine fibroids, after short-term UPA therapy in patients with symptomatic uterine fibroids. Multivariate regression analysis suggested the number of fibroids as an independent factor that can affect the volume reduction after a 3-month UPA therapy in women with uterine fibroids. Thereby suggesting that UPA could be ineffective for volume reduction in cases with multiple leiomyomas.
