Predicting the likelihood of a live birth for women with endometriosis-related infertility
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Sep 30, 2019
Benoit L, Boujenah J, Poncelet C, et al. - Researchers sought to develop a nomogram that may assist in predicting the possibility of a live birth after surgery followed by assisted reproductive technology (ART) for patients with endometriosis-related infertility. Two hundred ninety-seven women who attempted to conceive by ART after surgery for endometriosis-related infertility at a public university hospital were included. A live birth was reported in 171 (57.6%) women. The model was developed employing multivariable linear regression based on a retrospective database and included age, duration of infertility, number of ICSI-IVF cycles, ovarian reserve and the revised American Fertility Society score. The predictive model produced an AUC of 0.77 and was well-calibrated. As per outcomes, this simple tool seems to precisely predict the likelihood of a live birth in this patient population. They suggest it as valuable for counseling patients in their choice between spontaneous vs ART conception, or oocyte donation.
