Predicting risk of pulmonary arterial hypertension in systemic lupus erythematosus: CSTAR cohort study
Arthritis & Rheumatology Jun 13, 2021
Qu J, Li M, Wang Y, et al. - This study was intended to construct a prediction model for pulmonary arterial hypertension in lupus patients that provides individualized risk estimates. Researchers conducted a multicenter, longitudinal cohort study between January 2003 and January 2020. The research obtained data on 3,624 consecutively assessed patients diagnosed with lupus. They used Cox proportional hazards regression and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator to fit the model. They evaluated model discrimination, calibration, and decision curve analysis for validation. Routine clinical assessments were used to develop a risk stratification model. In patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, this new tool may effectively predict the future risk of pulmonary arterial hypertension.
