BMJ Open Apr 09, 2019
Akyea RK, et al. - In this population-based cohort study, researchers evaluated the incidence of hip fracture and all major osteoporotic fractures (MOF) in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) vs non-COPD patients, and assessed the use and performance of fracture risk prediction tools in COPD patients. In addition, they evaluated the prevalence and incidence of osteoporosis. Investigators found that COPD patients may be at higher risk of fractures and osteoporosis.
