Pre-operative factors influence the recovery of range of motion following reverse shoulder arthroplasty
International Orthopaedics Aug 31, 2017
Collin P, et al. – This study assessed the impact of subjective pre–operative factors on the rate and timing of range of motion (ROM) recovery in patients who underwent reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA). As regards to postoperative outcomes, anterior forward flexion (AFF) and Constant scores reached plateau at six months, whereas, continuous progressive improvement was seen in internal and external rotation up to two years post operation. Post–operative ROM was correlated with various pre–operative factors including poor pre–operative AFF, surgery on the non–dominant arm, and lower subjective shoulder value (SSV) and Constant scores.
