Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine May 28, 2021
Meaklim H, Junge MF, Varma P, et al. - This research sought to investigate differences in stress, anxiety, and depression between individuals with pre-existing insomnia symptoms, post-pandemic insomnia symptoms, and no insomnia symptoms, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Researchers conducted a cross-sectional survey including a total of 2,724 participants from 67 countries during the COVID-19 pandemic. Internationally, during the COVID-19 pandemic, individuals with pre-existing and post-pandemic insomnia symptoms may be more susceptible to stress, anxiety, and depression. During the pandemic, public health initiatives should include insomnia management to improve mental health.
