Potential effect modifiers of the association between physical activity patterns and joint symptoms in middle-aged women
Arthritis Care & Research Jun 07, 2018
Peeters G, et al. - Authors assessed if the relationship between physical activity (PA) patterns throughout middle age and the prevalence of joint symptoms in women in later middle age was modified by body mass index, menopausal status, and hormone therapy (HT) use. Results suggested an association of maintaining at least low levels of PA throughout middle age with a lower prevalence and incidence of joint symptoms later in life. Compared to the under- or normal-weight women, this apparent protective effect of PA on joint symptoms was stronger in obese women. It was unrelated to menopause or HT status.
