Posterior vitreous detachment - Prevalence of and risk factors for retinal tears
Clinical Ophthalmology Sep 25, 2017
Bond-Taylor M, et al. - The multi-fold goals of this study were the elucidation of the clinical characteristics of patients with posterior vitreous detachment (PVD), investigation of the prevalence of retinal tears in PVD patients and the identification of predictors for retinal tears in this study cohort. A higher risk of retinal tears was brought to light in the patients seeking care on the first day. The visual loss symptoms or a history of previous PVD-related pathology and vitreous/retinal hemorrhage at examination pointed towards a significantly higher risk of retinal complications. Hence, the data could assist in a better management and could lead to the order of priority among these patients.
