Posterior pole retinotomy for treatment of recurrent macular hole retinal detachment in highly myopic eyes: A pilot study
BMC Ophthalmology May 21, 2021
Wang X, Zhou X, Zhu Y, et al. - Researchers conducted a retrospective study to examine the feasibility and efficacy of posterior pole retinotomy to treat recurrent macular hole retinal detachment (MHRD) in highly myopic patients. The study included highly myopic patients who underwent posterior pole retinotomy with silicone oil tamponade for recurrent MHRD after pars plana vitrectomy. The sample consisted of 11 patients (11 eyes). In highly myopic patients, posterior pole retinotomy is a safe and effective surgery for treating recurrent MHRD after pars plana vitrectomy. Endophthalmitis, fundus hemorrhage, retinal redetachment, or proliferative vitreoretinopathy were not observed in any of the patients.
