Posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens implantation for the correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism: A retrospective 10-year follow-up study
American Journal of Ophthalmology May 18, 2019
Nakamura T, et al. - Researchers performed this retrospective observational case series to evaluate 10-year clinical outcomes in 61 patients with 114 eyes who underwent implantable collamer lens (ICL) implantation for correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism. At 10 years following surgery, 71.4% of the eyes were within 0.5 D of the attempted spherical equivalent correction and 87.1% of the eyes were within 1.0 D. Preoperative vs 10 years postoperatively, the observed mean intraocular pressure was 13.1 ± 2.4 mmHg vs 13.1 ± 2.9 mmHg, respectively. The observation period revealed no vision-threatening complications. With regard to safety, efficacy, predictability, and stability, good overall outcomes of ICL implantation were evident during a long-term follow-up period of 10 years in patients treated for the correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism.
