Post renal transplant anemia: Severity, causes and their association with graft and patient survival
BMC Nephrology Feb 20, 2019
Schechter A, et al. - Since post transplantation anemia (PTA), common among kidney transplant patients, is associated with increased loss of graft and increased mortality in most studies, researchers have evaluated the impact of anemia severity on these associations. Included were patients who had a kidney transplant at the Rabin Medical Center (RMC). In this cohort study of 1139 kidney transplant recipients, PTA was related to graft loss and mortality, particularly during the first three years. The severity of anemia affects this relationship. An anemia workup for PTA is recommended.
