Poor static balance is a risk factor for non-contact anterior cruciate ligament injury

Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery Dec 09, 2018

Oshima T, et al. - Researchers gauged the association between static balance and the incidence of non-contact anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in female high school athletes. They included 276 female high school handball or basketball players in this study. Poor static balance was seen to be a risk factor for non-contact ACL injury. In injured, significantly longer locus length per time was seen than in uninjured players. Though the two groups did not demonstrate any statistically significant difference in AR, AR tended to be larger in the ACL injured group.
