Plasma fibrinogen and mortality in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis: A prospective cohort study
BMC Nephrology Aug 20, 2020
Yu J, Lin T, Huang N, et al. - Researchers undertook this prospective cohort study to clarify the link between plasma fibrinogen and death in patients receiving peritoneal dialysis (PD). This analysis involved 1,603 incident PD patients from a single center in South China. The participants were observed for a median of 46.7 months. For quartile 1, quartile 3, and quartile 4 vs quartile 2, the adjusted hazard ratios for cardiovascular (CV) mortality were estimated to be 1.18, 1.47, and 1.78 and for all-cause mortality, these values were 1.20, 1.29, and 1.53, respectively, as revealed in multivariable models. Overall, a raised plasma fibrinogen level was identified to be significantly related to an increased risk of CV and all-cause death in patients receiving PD.
