Plasma CLEC-2 as a predictor of death and vascular events in patients with acute ischemic stroke
European Journal of Neurology May 18, 2019
Wu X, et al. - For death and recurrence of vascular events in acute ischemic stroke patients, researchers assessed the prognostic value of CLEC-2 (a C-type lectin-like receptor with prominent involvement in platelet activation). They conducted a prospective study with 352 patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and followed them for 1 year. A link between higher plasma CLEC-2 (pCLEC-2) levels taken at admission and increased risk of death was evident in the study, as was the combined events of death and vascular diseases in patients with AIS. Study results indicate that pCLEC-2 could be an important prognostic factor in patients with AIS.
