Journal of Psychiatric Research Mar 27, 2019
Narita Z, et al. - Given the increased risk of depression in patients with diabetes vs non-diabetic individuals, researchers examined how physical activity influences treatment outcomes of diabetes-related depression in this meta-analysis (13 studies; n=962) and systematic review (14 studies; n=1,020 patients). According to Hedge's g measures and the Beck Depression Inventory measures, physical activity had a beneficial effect on depression, suggesting a possible value of physical activity for ameliorating depression in these patients.
