Physical activity and adiposity in a racially diverse cohort of US infants

Benjamin-Neelon SE, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to evaluate accelerometer-measured physical activity over the course of infancy and quantify the correlations between physical activity and adiposity in a longitudinal context (repeated measures of both) over four equally spaced visits in the first year of life in a sample of racially diverse infants. From 2013 to 2016, a total of 506 infants were examined. According to findings, physical activity increased over infancy and was linked to central adiposity. Researchers should be considering objective measurements in infants, despite limitations.
