Peritoneal dialysis after kidney transplant failure: A nationwide matched cohort study from the French Language Peritoneal Dialysis Registry (RDPLF)
Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation Oct 29, 2018
Benomar M, et al. - Researchers assessed peritoneal dialysis (PD) as a management strategy following kidney transplant failure in this study by retrospectively analyzing 328 patients registered in the French Language Peritoneal Dialysis Registry (RDPLF). They compared those who started PD after kidney transplant failure (Tx group; between January 2002 and December 2012) to 656 matched never-transplanted patients who started PD during the same period (control group). They paid attention to patients and PD technique survival as well as peritonitis episodes. Findings demonstrated similar patient survival and peritonitis rates between the Tx and control groups; however, a higher PD technique failure was observed in the Tx group.
