Peripheral blood eosinophilia is associated with the presence of skin ulcers in patients with systemic sclerosis
The Journal of Dermatology Feb 10, 2019
Hara T, et al. - Investigators retrospectively examined the data on the basis of American College of Rheumatology/European League Against Rheumatism 2013 criteria to assess the relationship between skin ulcers and peripheral blood eosinophilia in subjects with systemic sclerosis (SSc). They noticed 20–983/mm3, maximum eosinophil counts during the 2-year follow-up period and 0.5–14.1%, maximum eosinophil percentages in peripheral blood in SSc cases. Whereas, they noticed an incline in maximum eosinophil counts among candidates with skin ulcers. An association between timing of emerging of the maximum eosinophil counts and the ulcer development was also noted during the 2-year follow up.
