Peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness in preeclampsia and eclampsia
International Ophthalmology Sep 28, 2017
Arab M, et al. - A scrutiny was performed of the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness during and after pregnancy, in pregnant women with preeclampsia or eclampsia. The findings were then contrasted with normotensive pregnant women as controls. The data displayed that peripapillary RNFL reduced in preeclamptic and eclamptic cases and in normotensive pregnant women at 2 months postpartum, taking into account the time of pregnancy. This reduction appeared to be highlighted in the severe forms of pregnancy-induced hypertension.
