Peripapillary halo in inflammatory papillitis of birdshot chorioretinopathy
Clinical Ophthalmology Jun 06, 2021
Khodeiry MM, Liu X, Sayed MS, et al. - Given that birdshot chorioretinopathy (BSCR) is an idiopathic bilateral posterior uveitis characterized by multiple yellowish-white choroidal lesions, researchers, for the first time, characterize the microstructure of peripapillary halos (PPH) in inflammatory uveitis using swept-source optical coherence tomography. For this prospective observational case series, 6 eyes of 3 patients with PPH associated with BSCR were determined by clinical examination, fundus photography, and fundus autofluorescence. Findings suggested that PPH in BSCR patients may indicate prior inflammatory optic neuropathy.
