Performance of sequencing assays in diagnosis of prosthetic joint infection: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of Arthroplasty Apr 25, 2019
Li M, et al. - In order to assess the diagnostic accuracy of gene sequencing assays for prosthetic joint infection (PJI), researchers assessed the results from 12 studies with 1,965 patients from 247 citations identified for screening. Findings revealed favorable diagnostic accuracy of sequencing assays for PJI. The ability to detect the causative organism was enhanced when an antibiotic-free interval before sampling was utilized. Sequencing by synthesis seemed to have advantages over other methods in specificity among next-generation sequencing methods.
