Schwartz M, et al. - In this study, experts sought to investigate patients' willingness to had blood tests as part of the diagnostic work-up for respiratory tract infections (RTIs), and patient knowledge about antibiotics. In order to facilitate antibiotic prescribing decisions for RTIs, a large majority of patients seemed willing to have point-of-care (POC) tests. Poor knowledge about antibiotics suggested better education regarding antibiotic use could influence patient attitudes towards the use of antibiotics for RTIs.
