Patient characteristics and outcome associations in AMPA receptor encephalitis
Journal of Neurology Dec 20, 2018
Laurido-Soto O, et al. - Authors studied to estimate the patient characteristics and outcome associations in alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA) encephalitis. They observed the presence of psychiatric symptoms at presentation predicted a poor outcome and linked to the presence of a tumor. They also suggested that the topography of magnetic resonance imaging abnormalities in reported cases were reflecting the distribution of alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid receptors (AMPARs) in the human brain. They suggested a close attention to the clinical phenotype might inform the presence of malignancy and long-term prognosis.
