Participation in regular physical activity after total knee or hip arthroplasty for osteoarthritis: Prevalence, associated factors, and type
Arthritis Care & Research Feb 03, 2019
Naylor JM, et al. - In this study, authors estimated the data to assess the prevalence, associated factors, and type of participation in regular physical activity after total knee/hip arthroplasty for osteoarthritis. They noticed an incline from 45.2% to 63.5% in the postsurgical participation in physical activity. They found a relationship of participation at 3 years with participation presurgery, better 3-year quality of life, younger age, better 3-year joint scores, >1 lifetime arthroplasty, and higher education level. No difference in high-impact activities was observed with an increase in postsurgical low-impact and nonambulatory activities.
