Paroxetine and fluconazole therapy for HIV-associated neurocognitive impairment: Results from a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial

Sacktor N, et al. - The safety, tolerability, and efficacy of both paroxetine and fluconazole for the treatment of the HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND) were assessed in this study. In a summary neuropsychological test measure and in several neuropsychological tests, paroxetine was correlated with improvement, but worse performance in 1 neuropsychological test. Further studies of paroxetine were warranted for the treatment of HAND and to define it's precise neuroprotective properties.
