Parental factors in early childhood are associated with approximal caries experience in young adults — A longitudinal study
Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology Dec 21, 2018
Isaksson H, et al. - Authors analyzed 494 subjects under 2 groups to estimate the impact of parental factors in early childhood on approximal caries experienced in young adults. They observed toothbrushing with fluoride toothpaste at 3 years of age < twice a day and the child's mothers' self-evaluation of their oral health care as “less than optimal” as significant risk factors for developing caries. Moreover, use of toothbrush less than twice a day with consumption of caries risk products > 3 times a day increased the caries experience in young adults. Both the groups indicated an association between parental factors in early childhood and caries experience at 20 years of age.
