Parameters predicting sperm retrieval rates during microscopic testicular sperm extraction in nonobstructive azoospermia
Andrologia Oct 10, 2019
Kizilkan Y, et al. - A total of 860 individuals with nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA) were retrospectively investigated between 2003 and 2014 in order to examine the predictive value of the parameters that may have an impact on the success of microscopic testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE) in infertile patients with NOA. Spermatozoon in 45.8% (n = 394) of the patients who underwent micro-TESE was sufficiently achieved. Multiple logistic regression analysis exhibited that former successful testicular biopsy and higher testicular volumes considerably enhanced sperm retrieval rate in micro-TESE. The most important factor was the testicular volume cut-off as 11 ml. In conclusion, however currently testicular biopsy outcome is not being used as a diagnostic method, it is markedly correlated with the micro-TESE results.
