Pain and disability after first-time spinal fusion for lumbar degenerative disorders: A systematic review and meta-analysis
European Spine Journal Jul 18, 2018
Koenders N, et al. - Experts assessed the course of pain and disability in patients with degenerative disorders of the lumbar spine after first-time lumbar spinal fusion (LSF). They conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of pain and disability outcomes in prospective cohort studies up to 31 March 2017 in four electronic databases. Pain and disability improved substantially after the first-time LSF for degenerative disorders. Nonetheless, as per the long-term outcomes, there was a probability of the leg pain to be more reduced and for a longer period of time than axial back pain and disability.
