Overdiagnosis of open-angle glaucoma in the general population: The Thessaloniki Eye Study
Acta Ophthalmologica Sep 09, 2018
Founti P, et al. - Researchers evaluated the overdiagnosis of open-angle glaucoma (OAG) in an urban, elderly (age ≥60 years), Caucasian patient population (n=2,554; northern Greece) and investigated the associated factors. There was a statistically significant association between worse visual acuity, family history of glaucoma, and history of cataract surgery with the overdiagnosis of OAG per a logistic regression model among non-OAG patients. Age, sex, higher intraocular pressure, higher vertical cup-to-disc ratio, and pseudoexfoliation were not found to be statically significant.
