Outcomes of in‐hospital cardiac arrest in COVID‐19 patients: A proportional prevalence meta‐analysis
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Feb 11, 2021
Mir T, Sattar Y, Ahmad J, et al. - As there are limited epidemiological data on the outcomes of in‐hospital cardiac arrest (CA) in COVID‐19 patients, researchers conducted literature search of PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane, and Ovid for studied describing outcomes of in‐hospital cardiac arrest in COVID‐19 patients. Among a total of 7,891 included patients with COVID‐19, there were 621 cardiac arrest patients. Findings from this pooled analysis of studies showed dismal survival post in‐hospital cardiac arrest in COVID patients; this was noted despite adequate ROSC obtained at the time of resuscitation. Common occurrence of nonshockable rhythm cardiac arrest was noted indicating a non‐cardiac cause while there was uncommon occurrence of cardiac related etiology.
