Outcomes of gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy in pseudoexfoliative glaucoma: 24-month follow-up
British Journal of Ophthalmology Aug 01, 2020
Sharkawi E, Lindegger DJ, Artes PH, et al. - In this prospective, interventional, non-comparative case series, researchers reported on outcomes of gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy (GATT) in eyes with pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (PXG). In total, 103 eyes from 84 individuals with PXG were recruited to undergo a 360-degree ab interno trabeculotomy with gonioscopic assistance using either a 5.0 polypropylene suture or an illuminated microcatheter with up to 24 months of follow-up. At 24 months of follow-up, the findings for GATT in PXG indicate that in this relatively aggressive glaucoma subtype, this conjunctival sparing procedure successfully decreases IOP and reduces the medications with a low complication rate.
