Outcomes in patients with chronic uveitis: Which factors matter to patients? A qualitative study
BMC Ophthalmology Apr 06, 2020
Stolk-Vos AC, Kasigar H, Nijmeijer KJ, et al. - Researchers used a qualitative study design to create a conceptual model of the factors that adult patients with chronic uveitis, a disease characterized by intraocular inflammations, consider to be important when assessing the impact of their disease and treatment. Twenty chronic uveitis patients have been enlisted to take part in two focus groups. This investigation reveals a conceptual model of five themes that patients with chronic uveitis find significant when evaluating the effect of their disease and treatment: disease symptoms and treatment, diagnosis and treatment process, impact on daily functioning, emotional impact, and treatment success factors. Therefore, these five themes were recommended to be involved in the development of future uveitis specific measures in adults.
