Outcome of immature oocytes collection of 119 cancer patients during ovarian tissue harvesting for fertility preservation
Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics Mar 29, 2018
Kedem A, et al. - Given that potential supplementary approaches to fertility preservation in females with cancer include retrieval of immature oocytes followed by in vitro maturation (IVM) and storage, researchers evaluated post-thawing outcomes of immature oocytes collected both by transvaginal aspiration and from excised ovarian tissue. Although the combined procedure could lead to storing a relatively high number of mature oocytes and embryos, the limited rate of pregnancies represents a poor reproductive outcome. Hence they recommended reservation of this approach for special groups with limited options.
