Oral risedronate increases Gruen zone bone mineral density after primary total hip arthroplasty: A meta-analysis
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Jun 14, 2018
Li Q, et al. - Researchers evaluated the effectiveness of risedronate in increasing bone mineral density (BMD) in patients who underwent primary total hip arthroplasty (THA). They systematically searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Chinese Wanfang database from inception up to October 2017. A significant reduction in peri-prosthetic bone resorption around an uncemented femoral stem (Gruen zone 1) after THA could be achieved with oral risedronate. Compared with the control group, oral risedronate significantly increased the Harris hip scores.
