Optical coherence tomography angiography of optic disc in eyes with primary open-angle glaucoma and normal-tension glaucoma
Journal of Glaucoma Apr 01, 2019
Toshev AP, et al. - Researchers studied candidates in 3 groups with ocular hypertension (OHT) (n=15), high-tension glaucoma (HTG) (n=36), and normal-tension glaucoma (NTG) (n=22) vs a healthy control group (n=23) to delineate the vessel density (VD) properties of the optic nerve head in eyes with OHT, HTG, and NTG and also to assess the relationships on structural parameters of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL). They observed lower global peripapillary VD (HTG: 54.04±5.11, NTG: 54.74±6.37) in glaucomatous eyes compared with nonglaucomatous eyes (OHT: 59.72±1.63, controls: 61.35±2.47). They noted comparable VD parameters of the optic disc between the control and OHT group and between the HTG and NTG group. Significant associations between average peripapillary VD and global pRNFL thickness were reported in the HTG and NTG groups.
