Optical coherence tomography angiography characterisation of Best disease and associated choroidal neovascularisation

British Journal of Ophthalmology Aug 22, 2017

Guduru A, et al. – In this study, researchers describe the vasculature of the retina in patients with Best vitelliform dystrophy, including those with choroidal neovascularisation (CNV), utilizing optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and correlate with fluorescein angiography (FA). OCTA uncovers that eyes with a Best disease have an abnormal foveal avascular zone (FAZ), patchy vascularity loss in the superficial and deep layers of the retina and capillary dropout with a hyporeflective centre in choriocapillary (CC) layer. Further, OCTA is better than FA in measuring CNV.
