Optometry and Vision Science Apr 11, 2018
Zhixi L, et al. - Experts elucidated the optic disc characteristics of Chinese highly myopic eyes and assessed the associated factors. All patients had undergone cycloplegic autorefraction, ocular biometry, and fundus photography. Findings suggested that in highly myopic eyes in Chinese population, beta-zone peripapillary atrophy, optic disc tilting, and rotation were very common. Authors noted the proportion of optic disc tilting, rotation, and β-zone peripapillary atrophy to be 81.2%, 48.3%, and 92.8%, respectively. The risk factors of a higher degree of optic disc tilting were older age, female, and more myopic spherical equivalent.
