Akbar U, et al. – This review enlightened the clinical efficacy of omega–3 fatty acids as a supplement along with existing treatment regimens in rheumatic diseases. In investigations, fish oil supplements appeared to be safe and effective. Thus, it could be added to the current treatment regimens in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, further research work was required to establish any long–term benefits of fish oil supplements in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), lupus nephritis, and osteoarthritis (OA).
