Ocular manifestations and treatment outcomes in Chinese patients with POEMS syndrome

Zhang X, et al. – The association between serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels and ocular manifestations was analyzed, in Chinese patients with POEMS syndrome. The optic disk edema (ODE) presented as a common manifestation of this syndrome. Increased VEGF could elucidate the development and mechanism. Systemic treatment possibly resulted in a decrease in serum VEGF levels accompanied by regression of ODE.
