Objective and subjective evaluation of trifocal diffractive intraocular lens after cataract extraction with phacoemulsification: A prospective clinical study
BMC Ophthalmology Apr 20, 2021
El-Dein AAZ, Elmassry A, El-Hennawi HM, et al. - Researchers conducted this prospective, non-comparative, non-randomized study to evaluate visual outcomes, quality of vision and patients’ satisfaction of a trifocal diffractive intraocular lens after cataract surgery with phacoemulsification. The research involved 18 patients (36 eyes) that underwent implantation of trifocal diffractive intraocular lens (IOL). The trifocal diffractive IOL produced a true intermediate focus as demonstrated by the VA and defocus curve, as well as improved vision quality as measured by contrast sensitivity and high order aberration. Furthermore, it was both safe and effective in these patients for correcting distance and near vision. The majority of the patients were extremely pleased and achieved spectacle independence.
