Mascaro V, et al. - This survey elucidated the incidence and distribution of Salmonella serovars isolated from humans, with emphasis on antimicrobial resistance patterns. It was inferred that an active surveillance system effectively enhanced the Salmonella notifications. The need to strengthen strategies for surveillance and monitoring of antimicrobial use was enforced via the high prevalence of antimicrobial resistance, including resistance to quinolones and multiresistance.
