Nomogram predicting early neurological improvement in ischaemic stroke patients treated with endovascular thrombectomy
European Journal of Neurology Oct 13, 2020
Zhang X, Peng M, Feng C, et al. - Given that early neurological improvement (ENI) after endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) has been correlated with favorable outcomes, researchers identified the best definition of ENI and created a nomogram for anticipating ENI after EVT in acute ischaemic stroke. Patients with EVT were registered as a training cohort in a multicenter registry. In total, 612 patients with EVT were involved in that cohort. Age, blood glucose, recanalization, symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) and baseline Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography Score (ASPECTS) were independently linked to ENI and were included in the nomogram. The optimal definition of ENI tended to be a reduction in NIHSS score ≥ 6. A nomogram consisting of age, blood glucose, recanalization, sICH and baseline ASPECTS may predict the risk of ENI in EVT-treated patients with ischaemic stroke.
