Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio as a predictor of long-term outcome in peritoneal dialysis patients: A 5-year cohort study
Blood Purification Feb 01, 2021
Zhang L, Nie Y, Guo M, et al. - Among peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients, this inquiry was performed to examine how neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is related to long-term outcome in this patient population. Experts analyzed 140 patients, and the median NLR was 2.87. A higher survival rate was evident in patients with lower NLR vs those with higher NLR. A significantly higher cardiovascular mortality was observed in patients with higher NLR. In the multivariate Cox proportional hazards model, the identified independent predictors of elevated all-cause death were: older age, higher Ca × P, and higher NLR. Based on the findings of this study, experts inferred that NLR could represent a strong predictor of long-term result in patients receiving PD.
