Microvascular decompression for treatment of trigeminal neuralgia: Factors that predict complete pain relief and study of efficacy and safety in older patients
World Neurosurgery Dec 07, 2017
Nunta-aree S, et al. - This study was designed to determine the factors that predict complete pain relief after microvascular decompression (MVD) for treatment of trigeminal neuralgia (TGN), and to study efficacy and safety in older patients. Researchers recognized that in the early postoperative period, presence of typical type TGN was the only factor that independently predicted a pain-free outcome. MVD was as efficacious and safe in older patients as in younger counterpart and thus should be considered as a therapeutic option for TGN in older patients.
