Grzybowski A, et al. - Researchers analyzed relevant studies identified from PubMed web platform, to review the methods for evaluating quality of life and vision in patients undergoing lens refractive surgery in randomized controlled trials. Patient-reported outcomes have been assessed in an increasing number of studies. In lens refractive surgery with multifocal intraocular lens implantation, the utility of only a few of the available visual function questionnaires is considerable. Inadequate validation of many self-developed questionnaires or their inability to adequately feature properly evaluated repeatability is held responsible for hindering the possibility of comparing outcomes. In patients undergoing lens refractive surgery, Rasch-developed tools were recommended to be used for measuring quality of life and vision. A number of highly robust tools are available.
